Gap Fees

A gap in surgical assisting is essential as it facilitates meticulous coordination among surgical team members, fostering seamless procedures and ultimately contributing to the attainment of optimal patient outcomes.

Minor Surgery

$100

General surgical and colorectal operations: Open groin hernia repair, minor perianal surgery, scrotal surgery, excision of large subcutaneous lesion, skin lesion excision

Orthopaedic operations: synovectomy, trigger finger release, ganglion cyst removal, tenotomy/ tendon repair, carpal tunnel/nerve release

Intermediate Surgery

$150

General surgical and colorectal operations: Cholecystectomy, appendicectomy, excision of lesion requiring skin grafting or flap repair, breast lumpectomy/ wide local excision

Orthopaedic operations: Minor joint replacement/ reconstruction, open reduction of small bone fracture.

Major Surgery

$200

General surgical and colorectal operations: Large and small bowel surgery, mastectomy +/- axillary lymph node surgery, thyroid surgery, incisional hernia repair

Orthopaedic operations: Large joint replacement, amputation of digit/s, closed reduction with external fixation, open reduction of bone fracture.

If you are unsure, please talk to your referring surgeon. (Note: this fee is in addition to Medicare and Health fund rebates, if you don't have Medicare or are self funded please enquire about fees through the info page). By purchasing this, it does not guarantee YourSurgicalAssistant will be assisting the surgery, in the event that the Surgical Assistant can not attend, you will be refunded the full amount.

Dr Alexandra Doig

Dr. Alexandra Doig, a graduate of James Cook University (JCU) in 2008, holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery. With extensive experience in emergency medicine in rural and metropolitan areas, as well as in general practice, she has developed a strong skill set in managing diverse medical conditions. As a Mackay local, she is deeply committed to providing top-notch surgical assistance to her community.
